We are immensely proud of our Roller Barrier system which is now in widespread use as a highly effective yet totally non-aggressive anti-climb barrier. Here we look at an example from a London installation where existing security gates were not performing as well as necessary.
London Apartment Block Plagued by Theft
A London apartment block was experiencing trouble from people climbing over their locked security gate. Although the robust and securely-locked vertically-barred security gate featured a row of metal spikes on the top, this was clearly not enough to deter intruders who would often steal valuables, including bicycles. And once inside the property, the bike-thieving criminals were able to easily open the gate from the inside to quickly make their escape.
This type of security issue is not uncommon. Homeowners often put their faith in security gates and barriers which may not be as effective as they should be. Experienced criminals are able to quickly and easily overcome basic security barriers, giving them easy access to areas where people keep their valuable possessions - such as bicycles.
Roller Barrier to the Rescue
Luckily, the property owners and managers at this apartment block had seen Roller Barrier in operation and thought that it would suit the modern, contemporary aesthetic of the building. They recognised the immediate and urgent need to take thorough precautions to prevent intrusion and theft but didn’t want to present an aggressive, spiked barrier which could potentially cause injury. The non-aggressive, stylish yet highly effective design of our Roller Barrier system is what was appealing in this installation.
Double Roller Barrier for Added Security
The customer also recognised the added security provided by our Double Roller Barrier installation. While the basic, single row of roller cups is sufficient for most installations the addition of a second row significantly increases the overall barrier height making it ideal for installations where additional height presents a further deterrent. Special end collars and caps were used to ensure the installation looked smart and neat.
Once installed the impact on unwanted intruders and theft was immediately apparent as it stopped completely! The new, Double Roller Barrier installation instantly put an end to what had become frequent theft and and intrusion issues, plaguing this apartment block and those who live there.
Stylish Robot Finish
Once the Double Roller Barrier installation had been completed and proven to be effective a stylish perforated steel plate presenting a cool robot image was added to the gate, hiding the bars and further improving the aesthetic of the now highly-secure gateway.
